Friends, family and community members braved the cold weather on Tuesday night, to pray for a boy battling his second round of leukemia.

Connor Lokey, 8, has already battled cancer once in his lifetime. He was diagnosed with A.L.L. Leukemia when he was only three-years-old. After an intense round of chemotherapy and radiation, Lokey went into remission for two-years. But in October, 2013 the cancer returned.

On Tuesday, Jan. 21 Lokey’s family and friends rallied around him by holding a prayer vigil for him outside of the James Grant Building at Westgate Park.

“I think it meant a world of happiness and support to Connor to Steve and to Alicia, we just want them to know that they are not forgotten, that they have been a part of this community and they will always be a part of this community and we are standing in the gap for them as he tries to overcome this battle,” said Kim Nill, a family friend of the Lokey’s.

For more information about Lokey’s progress you can visit the Facebook page set up for him called “A Cure for Connor”.
