It was a dark morning for Columbia residents.
Officials with Wiregrass Electric Cooperative say the town experienced a major power outage.
They say it was caused by a malfunction in an Alabama Power transmission line, but they say they don't know what triggered that malfunction.
Power has been restored to Columbia.
Some 13-hundred people were affected.
