Colorful New Image of Mercury

Here's a side of Mercury you've probably never seen: in living color!

NASA and Johns Hopkins University's applied physics department released this false-color image of the planet closest to the sun.

This isn't what Mercury would look like to the naked eye.

Instead, astronomers say it illustrates the many different chemicals and minerals that make up the scorchingly hot planet.
