Nine of the sharpest young minds' in the wiregrass took part in Coffee County’s annual Scripps spelling bee contest.
The fourth through the eighth grades came the enterprise city and coffee county school districts. If a student misspelled a word, he or she would be eliminated from the competition. College Street fourth grader Ashley Chapman would out spell the field to receive top honors:
Next month in Birmingham, Ashley competes in the state competition. That winner goes on to compete in the national spelling bee in Washington, DC.
