The U.S. Coast Guard has offloaded 600 pounds of marijuana and transferred one suspected drug smuggler to federal agents in Key West.

A press release says that the Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk was diverted to the scene after a suspicious boat was seen in the Caribbean on Saturday.

Crew members saw one person throw several packages overboard.

The Coast Guard says 68 packages were recovered from the water -- and all tested positive for marijuana.

Four suspected drug smugglers were transferred to Jamaica officials.

A fourth person was taken to agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency in Key West, along with the 68 bales of marijuana that had an estimated wholesale value of more than $500,000.
