The Bay County Sheriff’s Office today closed down a pain clinic operating in Bay County.
Investigators served a search warrant this afternoon on The Medical Clinic, P.C.B. located at 8317 Front Beach Road, Panama City Beach and are currently still searching the facility. The BCSO is being assisted by the Florida Department of Health, FDLE, State Attorney’s Office, and DEA Diversion Control Program.
The Medical Clinic P.C.B. opened in February 2011 and recently came to the attention of investigators at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. The clinic was owned and operated by Dr. Robert Bruce Sperrazza, DOB 7/28/53, formerly of Albany, Georgia. Investigation revealed that Sperrazza was indicted on July 1, 2010, in Dougherty County, Georgia, by a grand jury on 35 counts of drug related offenses which include Possession with Intent to Distribute drugs such as morphine, Demerol, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and other controlled substances. No trial date has yet been set for Sperrazza in Georgia. A condition of Sperrazza’s bond precluded him from prescribing controlled substances, which investigators have documented he has done since coming to Bay County.
In Florida, Sperrazza violated FSS 458.3265 (1) when he failed to register as a pain clinic, a third degree felony. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
