Two were rushed to the hospital this afternoon after crashing off of County Shop Road in Clayton.
Forty-seven year-old pilot Daniel Turner of Vestavia Hills says he was flying at about 6,000 feet when the power on the single-engine aircraft failed.
He attempted to land safely, clipped a tree, and spun into a ditch. The passenger, David Turner was released from the hospital shortly after.
The Federal Aviation Administration has been called to investigate further. Until the scene is cleared, County Shop Road will remain closed.
