In the near future the landfill will be reaching a point where it can no longer be used.

In Tuesday’s city commission meeting, city manager mike west presented the annual report on the financial condition of the city.
He spoke about the options for the landfill, and if how expensive the options could get.
"Taking it somewhere else is the easiest option. Because all we have to do is bid our waste site to various places. Waste management has a large landfill, Marianna, Coffee County; all of those would love our waster room." City Manager Mike West said.

Another option would be to expand on the Dothan landfill or find a new piece of property to build a whole new landfill.
But that can get expensive and tricky.
The city would have to find a place to build one that would meet all environmental safety requirements.
West says he hopes by the end of summer they will be narrowing down these options much more.
