The city of Dothan’s sewers will be getting tested soon.
It's part of an ongoing program to detect leaks.
A schedule of the tests isn't available yet.
However, a note will be placed on your front door when workers will be in your area.
Crews will be "smoke testing" the sewers.
Officials say smoke should not enter your home unless you have defective plumbing or dried-up drains.
To reduce the chances of smoke entering your home, they suggest running water through fixtures that you don't use regularly.
The smoke used in the testing is non-toxic, however, anyone with asthma should avoid breathing it.
