Today commissioners had their chance to ask questions and address concerns regarding the proposed Entertainment District Ordinance.
It would allow open containers in downtown Dothan during special events.
The ordinance would let current established liquor license holders sell alcohol in non-glass containers.
City commissioners are worried about how the district would be enforced.
They're also concerned with liability and insurance.
District 2 Commissioner Amos Newsome says the ordinance could compromise the family environment of downtown.
He's concerned that studies haven't been done on similar entertainment districts in Alabama.
But the downtown group says Auburn's entertainment district has had positive feedback.
The public was not allowed to comment at today's work session however during the next City Commission meeting it will be up for discussion.
