MARIANNA - A Bascom man is arrested following a wild police chase.

A Jackson County deputy stopped 21-year-old Cedric Dominic Dallas Jr. on Highway 71 about 3:00 a.m. Thursday for speeding. They say he was going 70 in a 45 mph zone.

Dallas pulled into the parking lot of the Tractor Supply in Marianna. As the deputy got out and walked towards Dallas’ vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office says Dallas hit the gas.

Dallas headed north on Hwy. 71, leading the deputy on a seven mile chase that reached top speeds of 115 mph. During that time, the Sheriff’s Office says Dallas drove into oncoming traffic for extended distances for no apparent reason.

As Dallas attempted to make a right turn onto Fort Rd. in Greenwood, a second Deputy conducted a P.I.T. maneuver. That’s where they try to stop a vehicle by ramming it, causing it to spin.

As that deputy approached Dallas’ vehicle, he ordered Dallas to get out. Dallas looked at him and then drove toward the deputy. Before Dallas could run him over, the deputy that tried to pull him over, hit Dallas' vehicle head-on.

Dallas refused to get out of his car, so deputies busted the driver’s side window. He still refused. Deputies eventually tased him and dragged him out of the car.

Dallas was booked into the Jackson County Jail and charged with three felonies: Aggravated Fleeing or Eluding, Reckless Driving and Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
