Troy - Charles Henderson High School students are being issued iPads this week.

The Troy City Schools Superintendent Lee Hicks says all 650 students and the school's teachers are getting them.

The district will pay about $113,000 each year for the next 3-years to lease the iPads.

In the long run, they hope to save money by purchasing digital versions of textbooks at a maximum of 15-dollars per student.

“We want to take it to the next level. Not to just use it as a resource. Use it as part of the day to day instruction. As we're used to using pen and paper mod, we'd love to the same in the very near future,” said Hicks.

Hicks ultimately wants an iPad in every student's hand from 6th through 12th grade.
