A century-old Dothan landmark could officially be a historic place.
City manager Mike West announced the city will apply to have the water tower in Dixie placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The water tower has been in service since 1897, and it's still being used.
This tower was the first storage tank built in the city.
“We're really looking at one of these structures that's just important to dothan, and just a real mark in pride for our history,” said Executive Director of the Downtown Dothan Redevelopment Authority Jansen Tidmore.
It could be months before the application process is finished.
Earlier this month, Dothan Utilities was given the Steel Water Pipe Century Club award.
