Car Lands in Pond

Tense moments this morning, as a car runs off the road and lands in a pond.

It happened shortly after 7:30am Wednesday off of Hodgesville Road in Dothan.

Witnesses say they heard a loud noise and ran outside to see the SUV sinking in a 9 foot deep pond.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and were able to rescue the man.

He's now in a local hospital.

But they say it could've been much worse.

"We saw him eye-to-eye and he was just looking at us. I was so scared it was going to go down with somebody still in there before somebody could get here," said Becky Givens.

Givens says the driver nearly missed hitting a tree and states there are a lot of wrecks along that road.

But that's the first time someone ever landed in her pond.
