UPDATE - Man Arrested for Attempted Assault on Atlanta Street

UPDATE 9:25 p.m.

Police have arrested the man they believe is responsible for an assault on Atlanta Street.

He is an identified as Fitzgerald Russaw. Russaw was arrested and has been charged with First Degree Attempted Assault. The incident stems from an argument the victim and Russaw had while at a house in the 500 block of Atlanta Street.

Russaw is believed to have pulled a gun and fired multiple shots at the victim. One of those bullets grazed the victims face causing moderate injuries. The victim has been treated and released from the Southeast Alabama Medical Center and a bond will be set at a later date for Russaw.

Latest release from the Dothan Police Department

Investigators are currently working a firearm assault, believed to have happened in the 400 block of Atlanta Street. The exact circumstances surrounding the call are still unknown.

One male subject was transported to the hospital and another was taken to the police department for questioning. The victim is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries to his face.

Dothan Police are questioning one person following an altercation in the 400 block of Atlanta Street in Dothan. The incident was initially reported as a shooting, but Dothan Police are currently calling it a firearm assault, saying it is too early to determine if shots were fired.

Police have searched an area of Atlanta Street, reportedly finding no evidence linked to the event. One victim has been taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The incident was initially reported as a shooting, after the victim told police he was shot, receiving a wound to his head. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Dothan Police say Wednesday's incident has no connection to Tuesday night's fatal shooting on Eugene Street in Dothan.

UPDATE -- 2:25 p.m.

DOTHAN, AL -- Dothan Police have surrounded the home of a suspect in a shooting at the corner of Atlanta and Powell Streets in Dothan. One victim has been transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center, reportedly with a gunshot wound to the head.

The shooting occurred around 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the victim was grazed in the head by a bullet. The victim then ran to the Dothan Police station seeking help.

Police are searching for a dark-skinned male suspect in his mid-20's, between 6 feet and 6-feet-2 inches tall. The suspect is wearing brown shorts and a brown shirt, and driving a dark green SUV, possibly a Chevy.
