Boys & Girls Club in Ozark Brings Home State Awards for their Programs

OZARK -- The Boys & Girls Club of Ozark-Southeast Alabama has much to be proud of, especially after the 2014 Boys & Girls Club Area Council Awards ceremony.

More than 100 clubs from across the state competed for recognition in five core categories: education & career development, health & life skills, sport, fitness & recreation, the arts and character & leadership development.

The Boys & Girls Club in Ozark took home three of the awards as well as the Overall Program Award.

The club has won this prestigious award 4 out of 5 consecutive years.

Executive Director Lonnie Groomes said it is what those awards stand for that matters most.

"We love the awards and everything but I think it's all about teaching these kids to stay on track, graduate high school and plan for a future, live healthier lifestyles," Groomes said.
