A Fort Walton Beach man has been charged with removing a wallet from a man killed in a Walton County traffic accident, and then using the victim’s credit card in a scheme to steal funds.
47-year old William Taylor Caudill of Cypress Street is charged with
grand theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and money laundering.
Investigators say Caudill, an employee of Florida Removal Service, was called to pick up the victim of the traffic crash on October 18th and deliver the man to the Okaloosa County morgue. On November 5th, the Okaloosa Sheriff’s Office learned that money may have been removed from the victim’s wallet, as well as charges made to his credit card.
The investigation revealed Caudill used the victim’s credit cards to
transfer money into another account belonging to a non-profit organization, and then used a debit card to remove some of the money and convert it to his own use.
