Blount Tops Murphy for 6A Regional Title at South Regional Tournament

The Blount Girls Basketball Team got off to a slow start in Friday's 6A South Regional Final against Murphy. When the Leopards woke up, they rallied to end the Panthers season.

Cierra Johnson had 18 points and Whytney Singleton added 17 points and Blount beat Murphy 53-41. With the win, the Leopards advanced to the Final 48 in Birmingham next week.

Trailing 11-8 after the first quarter, Blount rallied to take a one-point halftime lead. The Leopards stayed hot after halftime, outscoring the Panthers 17-11 in the third and 17-12 in the fourth to secure the victory.

Devan Cleveland and Vamikka Smith scored 11 points each for Murphy. The Panthers end the year with a 25-6 record.
