Demetrius Caldwell scored 21 points, leading Blount past Baldwin County 70-42 at the South Regional Basketball Tournament. With the win, the Leopards advanced to face the winner of J.F. Shields and Sunshine in the 1A Regional Final on Saturday.
Blount steadily built a lead against the Tigers, extending a 13-point halftime time advantage to a 21-point edge entering the fourth quarter. The Leopards defense proved to be the difference, forcing 19 turnovers and holding the Tigers to 32 percent shooting for the game.
Divine Myles added 11 points for Blount, which improved to 22-7 on the year.
Justin Mayes led Baldwin County with eight points. The Tigers end the year with a 18-15 record.
