BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Demonstrators protested in Birmingham Monday to speak out in opposition to the acquittal of George Zimmerman.
The neighborhood watch volunteer was acquitted Saturday in Trayvon Martin's February 2012 shooting death in Florida.
In Alabama, some who disagreed with the verdict are planning to gather at noon on Monday at Kelly Ingram Park in Birmingham.
Local civil rights leaders are called the rally "Missing Trayvon Martin Rally." Organizations involved in the rally include the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Action Network and the Civil Rights Activist Committee.
