UPDATE: Police say Birmingham Hospital Shooter Acted Alone

UPDATE 1:30 p.m.

Birmingham police are saying that a gunman entered the St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham early Saturday morning.

We've been able to confirm that one police officer and two hospital employees were injured. Their injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

The gunman was killed by a Birmingham police officer. Officials have not released this person's identity. The shooting took place on the fifth floor around 4 a.m.

It happened here at Saint Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham.
Police say a man shot two employees and a police officer on the fifth floor around 4 a-m.

A second officer shot and killed the gunman.

The three victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

There's no word on why the suspect opened fire.
