Bay County Interoperable Communications Drill

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Northwest Florida Domestic Security Task Force, will hold an Interoperable Communications drill on Tuesday, October 23, 2012.

Participating in the exercise will be over 21 local and state agencies from a ten county region in the Panhandle. Aviation assets from this region will be involved in a day-long test of the Florida Interoperability Network and the Florida Mutual Aid System. About 25 Communications students with also be participating indirectly with the exercise from remote locations in Tallahassee and Fort Myers. Students in Fort Meyers will be able to listen to the voice communications and watch repeaters being activated and deactivated in real time.

This exercise will give local public safety responders an opportunity to professionally interact in ways not typically performed on a daily basis. The drill is being paid for with DHS Grant Funds.

Helicopters will be entering Bay County airspace between 10:45 am and 11:00 am Tuesday morning and will land near the Bay County EOC building. Bay County residents can expect to see up to five law enforcement helicopters flying over Bay County during this day-long exercise.
