A Barbour County man was convicted in Dale County Circuit Court Wednesday for trafficking in cocaine.

It took a jury less than ten minutes to convict Carlos Lynn, 31, of Eufaula, on the class A felony.

On July 1, 2011, law enforcement was told that Lynn would be coming to Ozark to deliver five ounces of crack cocaine which has a street value near $5000.00. A driver's license check point was set-up near Matthews Avenue in Ozark.

The cocaine was found in the car behind the one in which Lynn was a passenger. While Lynn denied knowing the people in the other car, they claimed they were with Lynn.

Ultimately, Lynn admitted in a videoed statement that the cocaine was indeed his and that he brought it to Ozark to sell. Other people arrested and convicted in the crime testified in trial about the plan and Lynn was the one in charge and a drug dealer.

A conviction of a class A felony is normally punished by ten years to life in the State Penitentiary. However, Lynn has at least three prior conviction for distribution of cocaine. His range of punishment in this case is life in prison or life without the possibility of parole at the discretion of the trial judge, P. B. McLauchlin, Jr.

Lynn also has several pending felonies in Barbour County that he awaits trial including four distribution cases.

Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams said, "It was clear from the evidence in this case that Lynn is a major player in the local drug dealing world.
