Eufaula Police Chase Ends in Drug Charges

On October 2nd ,2013, at about 2:30 PM, Eufaula Police attempted to stop a gray Ford Taurus vehicle that was impeding traffic on N. Randolph Street.

Instead of pulling over, the vehicle sped off leading Police on a chase through the down town area then back into the residential area near where the chase started. As the vehicle went down Baker Street, it suddenly stopped and the driver jumped out and ran.

The pursuit continued on foot and the driver was eventually captured in the 500 block of N. Randolph Street.

On examination of the vehicle, Police discovered a variety of suspect substances believed to be methamphetamine, marijuana, narcotic pills, and drug paraphernalia. Police also recovered a .22 caliber handgun and over $900 in cash.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 33 year old Louis Shipman Jr., of Eufaula. Shipman has been placed in the city jail pending criminal charges for felony narcotics possession, unlawful firearms possession, and attempting to elude a Police Officer.

No one was injured during this offense.
