TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- A report says that more than 120,000 Floridians have received $9.2 billion in assistance from a settlement with the nation's five largest mortgage services.

A national monitor issued the report on the $25 billion settlement Thursday.

It shows that the payments in Florida average $77,000. Much of the assistance was in the form of forgiveness of loans or liens in order to facilitate the sale of homes.

The report is based on information given by the banks and has not been confirmed by the monitor.

This help provided by the banks is on top of more than $100 million in direct payments that went to homeowners and money that was paid to the state.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said the relief provided has exceeded initial expectations.
