Bail Set for Alabama Man in Botched Burglary

The Montgomery Advertiser reports Jason Curtis Ferguson was arrested Tuesday on capital murder and burglary charges in the New Year's Eve death of Thomas McCollum.

Authorities say Ferguson, of Wetumpka, shot, stabbed and beat McCollum before fleeing the scene.

Authorities say Ferguson worked with McCollum's stepfather and didn't believe anyone was home at the time of the burglary.

Ferguson is being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on charges of capital murder and first-degree burglary.

His bond has been set at $1 million for the murder charge and $600,000 for the burglary charge.

It is unclear if Ferguson has a lawyer.
