UPDATE: Man Arrested in Thursday Morning Apartment Shooting

Dothan Police have arrested and charged Michael Bailey, 25, of Ozark, in connection to Thursday morning's shooting at Denton II Apartments in Dothan.

Police responded to the apartment complex following a 9-1-1 call from a neighbor. At the scene, officers found a white female, shot multiple times. Despite her injuries, she was alert and conscious. The victim told the officers her assailant was her ex-boyfriend, Bailey.

Bailey fled the scene in a green Ford Crown Victoria. Officers were able to pass his information to surrounding law enforcement agencies. A Midland City police officer spotted Bailey’s vehicle and stopped him after a short vehicle pursuit on Highway 27 in Dale County.

Investigators say Bailey and the victim were in a volatile relationship that the victim was trying to separate herself from. Bailey located the victim at a friend’s home and forcefully entered that apartment, before pulling her outside and shot her.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she has been listed in serious condition. Bailey has been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, first degree burglary. His bond has been set at $1 million.

Dothan Police report the victim in an early morning shooting at an apartment complex was a white female. She was previously reported as a black female.


Update - 9:36 a.m.

A man is in custody following a shooting at the Denton II apartment complex in Dothan. Police do not know the relation between the suspect and the victim, however, they believe it was a result of a domestic dispute.

Apartment managers say neither the suspect or the victim were residents of the complex.

Neighbors say they heard multiple gun shots around 7 a.m. on Thursday. After calling police, they say they saw the suspect leave the apartment complex. He was later captured by police near Midland City and Ozark.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for her injuries. Her condition is unknown at the time, but police say she was awake when she was being transported.

Neighbors say this is the first shooting incident to take place in the apartment complex.
UPDATE -- 8:25 a.m.

Dothan Police are investigating a firearm assault that occurred at approximately 7:20 on Friday morning in the 400 block of Mona Drive. The victim, a white female was shot multiple times by the suspect, a male who fled the scene prior to officers arrival.

A person of interest has been taken into custody at this time. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may be domestic related.

The victim was alert when emergency personnel arrived and has been transported to the hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.


A Dothan woman is being treated for multiple gun shot wounds.

Police say the woman and a man were arguing when he shot her 3-4 times.

This happened at an apartment complex on Mona Drive, right off of Denton Road.

He drove off and police followed. The man was stopped and arrested near Midland City.
