Aviation Center Instructor is Surprised with Honor

Tuesday morning, Dan Riley was presented with the Charles Taylor master mechanic award in a surprise ceremony.

Riley is an instructor at the Alabama Aviation Center in Ozark.

Riley has worked in aviation maintenance for 50 years.

He began his career I the army, and worked at Fort Rucker.

Riley also worked in Miami for Pan Am in the 60s before he began his teaching career.

He hopes his students learn more than maintenance.

“I like to think I teach them a lot about life, not just sheet metal. I teach them about work ethic, behavior, pride, and that kind of thing,” sad Riley.

There are only 1700 recipients of this award nationwide. In Alabama there only 14.
