Jackson County Authorities Arrest Man for Drug Possession

On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, the Jackson County Drug Task Force concluded a long-term investigation centered on Neporah “Tray” Bowers III, and his cocaine distribution enterprise.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Bowers and the execution of a search warrant on a residence located on Boomerang Road near Bascom, Florida.

The Jackson County Drug Task Force has continually received information from individuals in the community about Bowers and the drug activity surrounding a residence on Malibu Road near Bascom, Florida.

In August 2013, the Jackson County Drug Task Force was able to begin a series of undercover purchases of cocaine from Bowers that continued through January of 2014. During that time, a total of five purchases of cocaine were made from Bowers in the area of Malibu Road.

As a result of these purchases, an arrest warrant was obtained for Bowers. On June 10, 2014, Investigators with the Jackson County Drug Task Force executed that arrest warrant on Bowers at a residence owned by Bowers’ mother on Boomerang Road. During the arrest of Bowers probable cause was developed to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Also during the arrest, a small amount of marijuana was also recovered.

On that afternoon, a search warrant was secured for the residence and executed that evening. During the search of the residence and vehicles located at the residence, $8,426.00 US Currency was seized. The currency seized is indicative of drug proceeds. The U.S. Currency was found concealed throughout the residence and in multiple vehicles in the yard.

Also seized from the residence was (23) firearms including an AR-15 style assault rifle with a loaded, hi-capacity magazine, several styles of shotguns and rifles and both semi automatic and revolver style pistols that were located throughout the residence. A .38 caliber revolver was also recovered in a vehicle parked in the yard.

The investigation is ongoing into the origins of the firearms and as of the time of this press release it has been discovered that some of the firearms are reported as stolen property.

Bowers is charged in this investigation, with five counts of Sale of a Controlled Substance, Cocaine and Possession of a Firearm/Ammunition by a Convicted Felon. Bowers was housed in the Jackson County Jail on a $150,000.00 bond.

This case was made possible by the cooperative effort of the Chipley Police Department, Cottondale Police Department, Graceville Police Department, Marianna Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
