Authorities Investigating Poisoning That Leaves Five Dogs Dead in Abbeville

The city of Abbeville is investigating recent animal deaths.

Police Chief Marlos Walker says in the past month, five dogs have died from eating poison.

It's not clear if the poisonings were intentional.

The dogs were sent to auburn for autopsies.

Walker is encouraging dog owners to walk around their property and look for suspicious substances.

"It started with one case of someone who just wanted to report suspcious activity with their pet because they were fine one moment then the next they found them deceased," said Chief Walker.

Police hope to have the autopsy results this week.

If you have any information about the animal deaths, call the abbeville police department at 334-585-2221.
