UPDATE: Man Arrested in Seminole County Double Murder Case Identified

DanTony Swinson, 47, has been arrested and charged with the murder of two Seminole County residents.

Authorities say Swinson was arrested on Tuesday, July 2 in Ware County, Georgia.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI), Ware County Sheriff’s Office, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Waycross P. D., Blackshear P. D., and the ATF arrested Swinson for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

This charge is based in Pierce County. Swinson was subsequently charged with two counts of murder on Wednesday, July 3, at approximately 11:30 p.m., for the Seminole County murders.

Swinson is currently being held in the Ware County Jail.

THOMASVILLE, GA -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Friday morning will announce an arrest in an open double homicide investigation. The announcement is planned for 10:30 a.m. CDT.

The GBI has been assisting the Seminole County Sheriff's Department in the ongoing investigation. Eliace Marie Smith, 49 and Heber Jettie Bennett, Jr., 64 were shot and killed in their home on Monday morning.

The shootings took place on 8056 Northwood Drive in Donalsonville, GA. Police responded to a 911 call at 7 a.m. on Monday morning about the discovery of bodies at the residence.

After investigating, both bodies were found with gunshot wounds. At that time, the GBI and Seminole County Sheriff's Office ruled the case a double homicide.
