After a joint effort from several law enforcement agencies, now two men are in jail, but police are still looking for more.
"We started a multi-agency investigation, we started developing suspects, exchanging information ", says Dothan Sheriff Andy Hughes.
Police were looking for several suspects involved in a dozen robberies covering Alabama, Georgia, and Florida back in March.
All police knew at that time was each robbery involved a gun, and they were very violent.
"These robbers are some of the most violent robbers I've seen in my 27 year career, several individuals were shot at and we had 2 individuals that were actually struck by gun fire".
25-year -old Milas Antwon Grant III was arrested Friday for an outstanding warrant charging him with armed robbery in Florida.
That charge is a felony.
32-year-old Throne Thomas Smiley was later arrested Saturday for felony first degree robbery.
Help from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office played a big part in leading to arrest.
"Jackson County Sheriffs Office had a piece of evidence that they recovered from a robbery in Mariana area and submitted it for DNA analysis and due to that DNA analysis they received a hit on an individual that was in codes in the Alabama system, and the individual turned out to be Mr. Grant"
Once grant was arrested, a search warrant led to further evidence at his home, leading to the arrest of Smiley.
"They have been taken to Montgomery this morning, the us attorneys office has agreed to take this case,we didn't want these very violent individuals getting lost in the court system," says Hughes.
Hughes says they are looking for another suspect or suspects in the ongoing investigation.
Police are asking the public for any leads that may lead to the arrest of more suspects.
