Animal shelters need your help in preventing abandoned animals.

Safe Haven Animal Rescue Kennel, SHARK, volunteers say they are seeing an increase in abandoned or stray animals.

They say part of the problem is parents giving their children a pet for Christmas, then deciding they are too much responsibility.

They say especially during these winter months, they are seeing dogs left in boxes on the side of the road.

SHARK is accepting donations to help take care of the dogs during the cold weather.
