Andalusia Woman Killed in Crash on South Bypass Monday

ANDALUSIA, AL - On Monday, July 21, 2014, at approximately 7:07 p.m., the Andalusia Police Department responded t0 a one vehicle accident on the South Bypass in Andalusia. The vehicle, a 2009 Nissan Sentra, was traveling west on the South Bypass when it left the roadway, traveled approximately 30 feet, and struck a Caterpillar Motor Grader that was parked.

The driver of the vehicle is identified as Melinda A. Denny, age 49, of Andalusia. Denny was transported by Advanced EMS to the Kiwanis Center where she was taken by Air Heart helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. Denny succumb to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m. Denny was the only occupant in the vehicle. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
