A Daleville church has been heavily damaged from an early morning fire and the cause is still under investigation.
The Daleville fire department was called on the scene of First United Methodist church at 1:16 am.
With the help of five other fire agencies (Clayhatchee, Level Plains, Fort Rucker, Newton and Pinkard) firefighters spent hours putting out the blaze. However, that didn't stop members from having church service this morning on the grass a few hundred feet away from the ashes.
"This has just been home to me and I've seen ministers come and go and even friends. Lots of friends here. Their like family and it's kind of like losing a family member, said Boots Dutton, a member of the congregation since 1959.
Right now no injuries have been reported from this morning's fire. The Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office has been called and they are leading the investigation.
