American Red Cross Smart Phone App Helps Family Members

While the Southeast prepares for ice, here in the wiregrass we're finally recovered after our wintry weather.

If you have family in the areas that are gearing up for winter weather this week, the American Red Cross is ready to help.

The Red Cross has a free smart phone app with severe weather updates and real time data for open shelters and tips.

If you have family, in a severe weather-affected are the app will be especially helpful this week.

You can enter in different zip codes and receive their area alerts and information.

The Wiregrass Chapter of the American Red Cross Executive Director Susan Holmes, says the app is especially helpful if you have elderly family in areas with severe weather.

The cold winter has resulted in more house fires here in the wiregrass.

The wiregrass chapter has been busy assisting fire victims.

They still need volunteers and financial donations.
