Allegiant Plane Makes Emergency Landing in North Indiana

Craig Williams says a search of the cargo bay of an Allegiant Air plane Friday night showed no sign of smoke or fire, but a cargo fire indicator light turned on, leading to an emergency landing.

Allegiant Air spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler says the flight from South Bend to Punta Gorda, Fla., landed in Fort Wayne shortly before 1:30 p.m. and all 149 passengers and five crew members were safely evacuated.

Wheeler says a replacement plane was headed to Fort Wayne from Bellingham, Wash.
