The Early County school board is putting out cigarettes and other tobacco products. Under new guidelines, students, teachers and parents will return to school this fall... With stricter rules for tobacco.
Not only is the use of cigarettes and non-smoke tobacco banned at all school functions and campus locations; even having a pack of cigarettes or can of skoal in your pocket is now forbidden at early county schools.
Superintendent Bronwyn Ragan Martin says, "We've had a tobacco free policy, but this is one that looks at all areas of our school system. There are no exempt areas. We don't have a smoking area, so everything, football games, everything will be smoking free."
The new rules also affect chaperones on field trips and any student mentors on school campuses.
