ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- The director of a south Georgia zoo says it is preparing to open a new exhibit that simulates the African grassland.
Kevin Hils, director of the zoo at Chehaw Park in Albany, says the African Veldt is scheduled to open in the next few months.
The exhibit is an approximation of the African grassland of central Africa and will feature the habitat and animals native to that region.
Hils says the zoo is also paying special attention to teens and children, not only as a source of revenue, but as part of an outreach effort to spark interest in animals and nature at an early age.
