DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama's first osteopathic college has opened its doors in Dothan.
The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine on Monday opened to 162 students, dozens of employees and millions more dollars of potential for economic development and expansion.
School officials say the inaugural class will go through orientation this week and begin classes Aug. 5. They will spend two years in the classroom in Dothan and then two years in residency at hospitals throughout the country. The class is expected to graduate in 2017.
