Alabama State Workers Will See Pay Raise

By  |

Alabama state workers are going to see their first pay raise in five years.

Governor Robert Bentley says he will reinstate merit raises starting Jan. 1. Some workers could see a 5 percent pay raise each year.

There have not been any raises since 2008 because the recession affected state tax collections.

Representatives for the Alabama State Employees Association says that this pay raise will help those who have seen their pay eroded by inflation.
