Alabama to Hold First Restaurant Week

It’s the year of Alabama food and hundreds of eateries are taking part in a statewide restaurant week. This is a good way to fill up without emptying your wallet.

From Montgomery’s Dreamland Barbecue, to Wintzell's Oyster House in Mobile, and even the Basketcase Café in Dothan, more than two hundred Alabama restaurants will participate in a statewide restaurant week.

It's a chance for people to enjoy some of the most popular dishes throughout the state.

“We were chosen as one of Alabama’s 100 dishes to eat a few years ago with our tomato soup,” said Katie Hart, owner of The River Nile.

The River Nile has been serving customers in Dothan for more than a decade. Hart hopes this special week brings in new business.

“We also do breakfast and dinner along with lunch. We want other customers to know they come in and have a biscuit for breakfast with tomato gravy,” she said.

A biscuit with tomato gravy is just the beginning.
During the ten day promotion, participating restaurants will offer fixed-price meals from five to thirty dollars.
Dothan's Firestone Wood Fired Pizza and Grill will offer deals on their from scratch Italian dishes and of course, their wood fired pizza.

“It's one of the reasons we wanted to join the tourism bureau and restaurant week. Show that we have new food and its good thing to come in and also to get our old customers to come back. It will kind of be like a discount almost,” said general manager, Shane Duddy.

Start making those dinner plans and reservations now.
Restaurant week starts August 17th and wraps up August 26.
