Ala. Legislature Passes Kelley's Law

The Alabama legislature passed "Kelley's Law" this week.

The measure makes it a capital offense to murder someone who has a protective order against the offender. It also eliminates the possibility of parole.

The bill's sponsor, Sen. Clay Scofield, says the goal is to help address domestic violence issues.

It's named after Kelley Rutledge Johnson. She was killed by her estranged husband in 2000 after she'd taken out a restraining order against him.
