Fourteen businesses are competing in Abbeville's annual scarecrow competition.
They'll be displayed at the square through Halloween.
Organizers say they wish more people had participated, but say this year's quality is top straw.
"It shows they are taking part in their community this is certainly a community effort its a way to decorate town and bring people into town to walk around and look at them as well as hopefully go into some of the businesses and visit," said Paulette Riley, scarecrow competition chairman.
The scarecrows will be judged Wednesday.
First, second and third place winners will be announced October 31st at the "Howl-o-ween" festival.
