DOTHAN, AL - Alabama Attorney General Luther Sstrange has issued an opinion on the City of Dothan's landfill expansion project.

The project has been at a standstill ever since the Zoning Board didn't vote on the issue.

In December, the Dothan City Commission voted to ask the Attorney General for his opinion. Strange released that opinion Wednesday.

It reads: "The planned expansion of a landfill by the City of Dothan is a governmental function and is therefore exempt from the jurisdiction of the Dothan Board of Zoning Adjustment."

The full opinion is attached to this story.
