A Look Inside Morris Slingluff Elementary's High Tech Classroom

UPDATED

Emily Fleming's fifth grade class at Morris Slingluff Elementary School has gone high-tech.

"It's really nice and you don't have to worry about wasting time you get your own email address so you can send it to your teacher, you don't have to worry about wasting paper," said Ally Brooks, fifth-grader at Morris Slingluff Elementary School.

"This fifth grade classroom has laptop computers they are Macbook Airs and we have enough for every child in the classroom, said Teresa Davis, principal. "The chairs are designed to have a more collaborative atmosphere and that's what we are doing now creating an atmosphere that is more conducive to collaboration at our school,"

Students are excited to come to class.

"The children absolutely love them it has cut down on a lot of challenges as far as different behaviors in the classroom it has also challenged the students so they stay more active and engaged in their learning the environment that has been created here has allowed the students to be more interactive with each other," said Davis.

"It is really engaging for the students it allows them to work together a lot more and use the technology they are used to using at home and everywhere else instead of just reading text books all day," said Emily Fleming, teacher.

In addition to laptops, each student will get their own personal white board to help with different classroom activities.

Principal Davis hopes to have this technology in all fifth grade classrooms by the end of the school year.
