A 12 year old boy in Clayhatchee is a hometown hero.

Cole Abercrombie was having a normal day on the river in Clayhatchee a couple of weeks ago.

But it all changed when a 4 year old boy jumped into the water after a lost toy.

When Cole saw the boy go under, he sprang into action.

He managed to pull the little boy out of the current and to shore.

The little boy was okay, but upset he'd lost his toy.

Cole says the toy wasn't the only casualty in the adventure - His phone was damaged in the water but he says it still works for now.

"I feel proud of myself because a phone you can replace but a life you can't. So if I wouldn't have been there he might have drowned," Abercrombie said.

Cole says the incident taught him to be careful, be cautious and think before you act.
