Hurricane Frances is picking up strength again in the Gulf of Mexico before its anticipated landfall in the Florida Panhandle and Southeast Alabama.
Frances remained a tropical storm this morning -- but it's rebuilding over the Gulf and is expected to reach hurricane level again today.
Forecasters predict the storm will make landfall somewhere between Tallahassee and Panama City, Florida -- and the eye is expected to pass over Dothan around two a-m tomorrow.
Frances should be downgraded to a tropical storm by then -- and will be down to a tropical depression by the time it arcs westward toward Montgomery and then back northeast toward Anniston.
More than five (M) people in Florida have been affected by power outages so far. Alabama Power says it has its crews on alert -- but
it won't send help to Florida because the company is still in contract negotiations with workers.
