Our fingers tap away to get to it everyday.

"I am probably on there anywhere from between 20-30 times a day," says Donesha Bolden, a Facebook user.

Facebook has become a common phrase.

Terms like "Facebook Me" or "Add Friend" have replaced face to face conversations.

With reconnections at your fingertips, not only has it become a breeding ground for new friendships, but added targets as well.

Cpt. Antonio Gonzalez, with the Houston Co. Sheriff's Office says, "Nothing in this world including your computer is absolutely secure. So the more information that goes in, the information goes all around."

Cpt. Gonzalez says pop-ups have been around long before Facebook was born.

However, with its popularity, you're seeing more viral links.

Take this recent one about McDonalds.

The message says "OMG!! McDonalds might soon shut down because of this, you have to see this."

The Better Business Bureau says if clicked, it will attempt to steal your password.

"Once you open something up, you may open the door to a lot of other things that you don't see until you open that door," Cpt. Gonzalez continued.

While it's important to think about your actions, it's also important to think about your friends. Would they really put a link on your wall on how to lose seven pounds?

Unfortunately, there is no definite way to tell the safe links from the links that could wreak havoc on your computer.

You may just want to stay away from those like "How to lose 10 pounds in 10 days."

The Internet is so fast paced; Cpt. Gonzalez says it makes it very difficult to get laws in place to protect users.
