The head of a Dothan towing company says he's a crook for charging so much and city officials say the current system may need repairing.
Thad McCullough told city commissioners Tuesday he charges the same rates as other tow truck operators in Dothan. But he says it’s still too much.
McCollough says its easy to make between $15,000-$20,000 in a two week period because companies charge up to $185 for hauling away each vehicle involved in a wreck.
Commissioners have appointed a committee to study the problem.
Interim City Manager Jerry Corbin says the city could start its own towing department or award all of the business to one company that submits the lowest bid.
